Meet Dr. Julie George, ND

Naturopathic Doctor | Environmental Medicine | Chronic Illness

Hi, I'm Dr. Julie George, a licensed Naturopathic Doctor and the founder of Rivercreek Wellness. I've been helping patients improve their health through naturopathic medicine since 2009, with a special interest in environmental medicine and complex chronic health conditions.

Over the years, I've worked with many patients who have seen multiple doctors, undergone numerous tests, and still don't have answers about why they feel the way they do. Some have been told their labs are normal, yet they continue to struggle with fatigue, inflammation, digestive problems, hormonal imbalances, or other symptoms that interfere with their daily lives.

I believe these patients deserve to be heard, and they deserve someone who is willing to take the time to investigate what may be contributing to their health concerns.

My approach goes beyond simply looking at symptoms. I spend time reviewing medical histories, laboratory findings, environmental exposures, nutrition, lifestyle, and other factors that may be affecting a person's health. When appropriate, I use advanced laboratory testing to help identify areas that need attention and to monitor progress along the way.

I don't believe there is one treatment that works for everyone. Each person has a different history, different exposures, and different needs. My goal is to work with you to develop a realistic, individualized plan that supports your health.

How I Became Interested in Naturopathic Medicine

My interest in natural medicine began long before I became a doctor.

I grew up in Texas, surrounded by agriculture and chemical industries. Conventional medicine was the primary form of healthcare I knew, but a visit to a naturopathic doctor introduced me to a different way of looking at health. It opened my eyes to the importance of nutrition, lifestyle, environmental exposures, and the body's ability to heal.

During medical school, I experienced the devastating loss of my brother to a brain tumor. That experience had a profound impact on my life and strengthened my desire to understand the relationship between our environment and our health.

It also helped shape the direction of my career.

I became particularly interested in environmental medicine and how exposures to mold, chemicals, and other environmental factors may contribute to chronic health conditions.

My Approach To Patient Care

Today, much of my practice focuses on helping people with complex health concerns, including mold-related illness, chronic fatigue, autoimmune conditions, digestive disorders, hormonal imbalances, and chronic inflammation.

I believe the foundations of good health are incredibly important. Nutrition, sleep, movement, hydration, and stress management all play a role. But I also recognize that for someone dealing with chronic illness, these foundations may not be enough on their own.

Sometimes we need to investigate further.

I enjoy researching difficult cases, reviewing laboratory findings, and looking for connections that may have been overlooked. I also believe patients should understand what we're doing and why. Education is an important part of my practice because I want you to be an active participant in your healthcare.

My goal isn't to replace conventional medicine. I believe both conventional and naturopathic medicine have valuable roles in healthcare. I want to help patients make informed decisions and find an approach that best supports their individual needs.

Education, Training & Professional Experience

I earned my Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona, now known as Sonoran University of Health Sciences. I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

I am a licensed Naturopathic Doctor in Washington State and have been in private practice since 2009. Throughout my career, I have founded and operated naturopathic healthcare businesses, including Sunstone Natural Health and Rivercreek Wellness, and co-owned The Sedona Cleanse in Arizona.

My professional background includes:

  • Advanced environmental medicine training under Dr. William Rea and Dr. Walter Crinnion.

  • Mold Illness Certification training with Dr. Jill Crista.

  • Recognition as Doctor of the Year in Texas.

  • Membership in the International Society for Environmentally Acquired Illness (ISEAI).

  • Membership in the Pennsylvania Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

  • Ongoing continuing education in environmental medicine, chronic illness, and naturopathic therapies.

Continuing education has always been important to me. Medicine is constantly evolving, and I believe that being a good doctor means continuing to learn, asking questions, and staying informed about new research and treatment approaches.

I enjoy working with complicated cases and patients who haven't found the answers they're looking for. My experience, training, and commitment to continuing education help me bring a broader perspective to patient care.
